"Vaginal Prolapse" is used to describe when the pelvic organs (uterus, bowel, rectum, bladder,
urethra and vagina) lose tissue and muscle support and drop from their normal positions.
Prolapse is associate with symptoms such as sensation of a lump or bulge in the vagina, constipation,
incontinence (involuntary leaking of urine) and problems with sexual intercourse.
It can often be uncomfortable, painful and cause symptoms that disrupt your life.
Vaginal Prolapse is more common in women who have given birth. It is also common in women experiencing
menopause and in women who have had a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus). The right treatment for
you will depend on the type of prolapse you have, its severity, underlying cause, and if other medical
problems are present.
